State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam said that sufficient information has been sought from India regarding them. In a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday afternoon, he said, "Consular access has been sought from India from the Kolkata Mission of Bangladesh on Sunday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that it will get access soon. Only then will the ministry take further action."
In response to another question, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs said that the process of bringing Sheikh Hasina back is underway. The government is trying to prosecute those who committed crimes against humanity in the July mass uprising.
Inquilab Manch convener Sharif Osman Hadi wanted to contest the elections as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency. For this, he was doing public relations. On December 12 last year, shortly after Friday prayers, miscreants shot Osman Hadi, who was riding a rickshaw, on Calvert Road in Purana Paltan in the capital. After shooting him in the head, the assailants fled on a motorcycle. Osman Hadi was later taken to Singapore for advanced treatment. He died there on December 18.
After investigating the discussed murder, the police said that former Chhatra League leader Faisal Karim shot and killed Osman Hadi. Alamgir Hossain, a Jubo League activist from Adabor police station, assisted in this. They basically carried out the murder on the instructions and plan of Taijul Islam Chowdhury (Bappi), the organizing secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo League and former ward councilor of Mirpur area. After the murder, all three fled to India.
A press release issued by the West Bengal Police's Special Task Force (STF) yesterday informed about the arrest of Faisal Karim (37) and Alamgir Hossain (34). The release said that during the initial interrogation of the two, it was revealed that Rahul alias Faisal Karim Masud along with his associate Alamgir Hossain killed political activist Sharif Osman Hadi in Bangladesh and fled. They entered Indian territory illegally through the Meghalaya border. After roaming around in various parts of India, they finally reached the Bangaon area of West Bengal. Their intention was to return to Bangladesh if they got the chance.
After their arrest, work has started through diplomatic channels to bring them back to their country, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir said at a press conference today.
